It was very enjoyable to watch West Coast defeat Freo on the weekend. From all over little Perth (aka Melbourne) a bunch of West Australians descended upon the East Brunswick hotel. A few hardcore West Coast fans — big props for Stash bringing his own West Coast bar mat to the pub (!) — and a veritable bandwagon of bourgeois Dockers fans all watched as West Coast cruised through the first three quarters, and then pressed the midfield button in the last quarter to finish it off.

Things are looking good at West Coast — three from three (including two away games), a midfield that looks as slick as any other in the competition, and a forward line that is beginning to take marks and kick goals.

spectator sport is possibly just another 'opiate for the masses' - like the pokies?

Fair enough -- get your point. It is similarly addictive, but hopefully with less negative social consequences.

I was very subdued (subjugated) on Sunday after staying out drinking/celebrating/gloating on Saturday, and not really up for a revolution.
